History Sticks To Your Feet

The B side of Perpetual Motion Machine, titled History Sticks To Your Feet is now available to stream from Pitchfork.

History Sticks To Your Feet

at the movies
eyes iced over
walking sideways
through them gutters
and you realize that the floor
sticks to your feet like history
well don’t you look at me
like life don’t hold you anymore mystery

bag of splinters
boiling over
on your back
expose your belly
optimism doesn’t change the facts
just what you’re gonna to see

like it was stated that we’re walking
salt and coal
plants solidify sunshine
how’d they start
i don’t know
cars and feet and then tire change
shoe stores
the sun’s diary pulled up from deep canary holes
and when we read it our skin it becomes warm

at the movies
eyes iced over
walking sideways
through the gutter
and you realize life sticks to your feet
you’re history
i’m gonna slap that look off your face
like life don’t hold no mystery

all those red marks
on our shoulders
self back patting
homemade trophies
well the path only exists
as tiny bricks
we burn to release all it’s memory
i’ve had enough with rolling boulders
i want more moss on me

clocks move splinters
the time goes forward
when them trees are leaves
your feet collect their memories
i guess all is safe
and i guess that a deer can’t scheme

i heard you mention that we’re walking
salt and coal
plants solidify sunshine
how’d it start
i don’t know
cars and feet and then tire change
shoe stores
the sun’s diary pulled up
from deep canary holes
and when we read it
our skin it becomes quite warm

at the movies
eyes iced over
walking sideways
through the gutters
and you realize that the floor sticks to your feet
you’re history
i’m gonna knock that look off your face
like life don’t hold you no more mystery

Perpetual Motion Machine

The next single from the upcoming EP, No One’s First and You’re Next, is now available for streaming from Spin.  The song is titled Perpetual Motion Machine and features some sweet brass band sounds.  I found it to be pretty odd at first, but it has grown on me.  I approve.

Perpetual Motion Machine

daniel read the paragraph
he read until the words ran out
it said we’re all in trouble now

poison in the juice carafe
we drank until our thirst ran out
oh no we’re in some trouble now

everyone wants to be a perpetual motion machine
we all try harder as the days run out
we all try harder as the days run out
we all try harder as the days run out

with your teeth to your lips
and your hair to the ground
well you hear the fish and they’re making this sound
saying we just want to go on walking around
and feel what it’s like to fall down

patrick ran the race
yeah he ran until the tire ran out
oh no i’m in some trouble now

tried to kick it over
i tried until the juice ran out
oh no we want more trouble now

with your teeth to your lips
and your hair to the ground
well you hear the fish and they’re making this sound
saying we just want to go on walking around
and feel what it’s like to fall down

i saw!

everyone wants to be a perpetual motion machine
we all try harder as the days run out
we all try harder as the days run out
we all try harder as the days run out

I haven’t had anything to post here for a while, so why not post some news about my favorite band, Modest Mouse.

Their latest single, Autumn Beds, is available today streaming from spinner.com.  Its B-Side, The Whale Song, will be available to stream from thetripwire.com on June 18.  In case you missed the previous release of Satellite Skin and B-Side, Guilty Cocker Spaniels, it is available in the iTunes music store.  Modest Mouse has also announced new tour dates for this summer, see the list here.

Thanks to interstate-8.com for keeping me up to date.

And now for something completely creepy…
